What are the lunch prices?

The Tombstone Unified School District is pleased to provide high-quality meals at cost-effective prices. Student lunches cost $1.75 and extra milk is $.25. School lunches include a half pint of 2% milk; juice can be substituted for students with milk allergies. Families may prepay for meals on a weekly or monthly basis, or simply buy lunches daily.

Visitors are always welcome. Adult lunches cost $2.50, and parents may place their order for a hot lunch by calling the cafeteria office in the morning.

Some students may qualify for reduced-price or free lunch and breakfast. Applications are available in the school office.

What if my son/daughter is absent?

It is very important that the parent or guardian notify the school as soon as possible if a student will be absent (520-457-4002). If the school is not notified by 10:20 a.m., state law (AZ Revised Statutes 15-803) requires a call be made to the home to verify the absence. Message machines are available for you to call at your convenience. Please state the type of illness when you call.

A note from the parent explaining the type of absence is required when phone verification is unsuccessful. Homework may be requested after the third absence. Requests should be submitted before 11:00 a.m.

Does THS enforce a "closed campus" policy?

THS enforces a "modified" closed campus policy. This means that freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are not allowed to leave campus before regular dismissal times, but seniors in good standing are allowed off-campus lunch privileges.

Does THS have a dress code?

We encourage our students to take pride in their attire as it relates to the school setting. Students should dress in a way that takes into consideration the professionalism of the educational environment, and the safety, health, and general well-being of self and others. Clothing should be neat, clean, modest and in good taste.

We ask that the following guidelines be followed:

  • Clothing should provide adequate coverage. Halter or strapless tops are not allowed and tank top straps should be at least one inch in width. No bare midriffs. Length of shorts and skirts need to be in close proximity to mid-thigh.
  • For safety and security reasons, extremely baggy or saggy pants/shorts are not allowed; neither are any accessories that can be used as weapons, such as chains, spiked jewelry, or hanging belts.
  • Clothing, accessories, or head coverings that identify with illegal organizations, advocate the use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco, or portray racial statements, profane or inflammatory language, or sexual depiction/innuendo will not be permitted.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times. Pajamas and slippers are not allowed, except on approved school activities. Head coverings may not be worn in the classrooms (unless approved by the administration).
